There has been a lot of debate on which software is the best, which takes the most resources and which is not good at catching viruses. Apart from all of the discussion, I am collecting all the free antiviruses which I have used at one time or the other. I have found all of them to be doing a good job atleast in terms of ROI as they are free. I’m listing top 5 free antiviruses which I have used. If anyone of the readers has used some other good antivirus which is also free, please let us know through comments.

AVG Antivirus

The first one which I would like to quote is AVG as I have used it for a long time and have been satisfied with its performance. Lately I have noticed that it didn’t detect some of the latest viruses but that may be because I don’t update my antivirus frequently. It can be downloaded from here:

AVG Free Edition 8.0.169 (47.7 MiB, 31 hits)

Rising Antivirus

I know this will be a new name to many and it is relatively a new antivirus. I got it a few months back and installed it on one of my test systems and then installed it on one of my client’s PC and it has been impressive. I felt save after I installed it as it caught most of the viruses which AVG was not able to catch and it’s security is more stronger than AVG. So I would recommend Rising Antivirus if you’re looking for a good antivirus for your home system which doesn’t take a lot of resources and keeps the system safe.

Rising Antivirus Free Edition 20.56 (54.1 MiB, 52 hits)

AVAST Antivirus

I have used AVAST long time back but it’s really good because it’s light weight, doesn’t take much resources and it’s fast in scanning. It has got boot time scanning which makes it less vulnerable to startup viruses and worms. The problem lies in it’s detection of viruses. It’s not as quick as other antiviruses in catching the viruses. It can be downloaded from the following location:

Avast Antivirus 4.8 Home Edition (26.2 MiB, 10 hits)

Avira Antivir

Avira Antivir has a very good reputation for it’s low system resources and high detection rates. It can be very reliable in protecting home computers. The confidence in Avira Antivir is built more after seeing it’s user base. It has got about 15 million satisfied users around the globe. The down side of it is that it’s scanning is very slow. It can be downloaded from the following link:

Avira AntiVir Personal 8.1 (23.9 MiB, 4 hits)

Comodo Antivirus

Last but not the least, Comodo Antivirus is another ultra light weight antivirus with blazing speed scanner. It has a nice user interface. But the problem with Comodo antivirus is that of its detection rate. It’s detection rate is not all the good so one can’t feel safe with Comodo Antivirus. It can be downloaded from the following location:

Comodo Antivirus 2.0 Beta (34.6 MiB, 4 hits)

Conclusion:

I am leaving totally up to you to select which one is the best antivirus for you.

Meet the Executives, Entrepreneurs, and cutting-edge innovators who have positively influenced today’s domain industry business agenda. The names presented here weren’t selected on the basis of fame, net worth, or the accomplishments of yesteryears. Instead my goal was to identify people whose ideas, products, pioneering accomplishments and industry insights have or are changing the world of domaining. A remarkable who’s who of the domain industry.(

Future of the Domain Industry
Why You Matter: The future of domaining has fast become highly publicized due to recent world record sales and industry advertising. It seems every TV, radio and print commercial advertisement is now tagged with the website address of the company sponsoring the ad in hopes of driving traffic towards the site. Domain names are no longer a collecting hobby, but a multi-billion-dollar industry that has taken the world by storm. As a domainer, we have dedicated ourselves to searching trends, market influences, future potential interest and overall market appeal of domain names that would be highly sought for purchase or traffic monetization. We are the driving force behind the exploding media behind the domain industry and without you being a part of the frenzy, there would be no frenzy. I would like to thank everyone for your positive influences to our emerging industry and I look forward to adding some new faces to the 2008 edition of the 20 Most Influential People In The Domain Industry. Please be kind in critiquing the choices I have made. These are just one guy’s opinion.
Cheers,

You have often seen the administration password request during the windows xp installation. But even after entering the password we do not see the Login password option when our window is completely installed and rebooted. You might be wondering why this happens and for what reason they request for the password …Here it should be clear that the administrator password and user account password are different things. Most of us consider administrator password as user account password…

<>Uses & advantages of administration password

* It is used in safe mode when you forgot your windows xp user account password* the supreme advantage of giving administrator password to your window is to provide high level of security to your system. Weather you’re on the local area network or on internet. No one can access your machine. When anyone try to access your system he will gets an option for administration password which is only stored in your brain.

* One more advantage of having window xp administration password is that no one can change your user account password..Let me explain how this going to happens.

Let’s suppose you have installed windows xp without entering administration password or skipping that step during windows installation. After the completion of installation you put a user account password by going to start/settings/control panel/user account. Now when you reboot your machine you’ll need a user account password to logon to your window.Consider you have forgotten your password and you are unable to logon to your window. But do not loose hope there is still one way to get the problem solve if your machine is free from administrator password discussed above. Here is the solution.

Reboot your computer, Press & hold “F8?, until you gets some options in black window …from those options select “safe mode” .Selection of this option will take you to the login panel .Select here “Administrator” and logon to your window…If you have forgotten your user account password, then you will need old user account password to change or disable it which you don’t have! ..Go to start/settings/control panel/user account… Open guest account and enjoy using your windows xp. And if you want to change the user account password even after forgetting the old one…Then there is still one way which I’ll discuss in my next post …up to then keep on practicing. Because “practice makes a man perfect”

It was only a matter of time before a superior WordPress SEO plugin came along to dethrone the extremely popular All In One SEO Pack. After a change of ownership, questions arose as to whether the new owner would keep it up to date with the latest SEO trends. Others would be happy as long as it would remain compatible with future WordPress versions.

A few days ago, a new plugin was released known as Platinum SEO Pack. This appears to be a “fork” of the All In One SEO pack. It claims to do everything All In One SEO does, and more. Here are a few new features in this plugin:

Ability to add index, noindex, follow or nofollow, noodp, noydir meta tags to any post or page

Automatic 301 redirect if you change your permalink structure

Choose to block indexing (using noindex tag) on RSS feed pages

Nofollow external links on front page

Nofollow links to archive/category/tag pages

Some of this stuff might be considered “SEO overkill” although all of these are options in the backend.

I was using it myself (on another site) earlier today and didn’t find any problems or bugs. You can get the plugin yourself here.

What do you think? Has All In One SEO Pack been trumped in favor of Platinum SEO? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Site promotes $60 reserve domains to help get them listed in auction.

Getting a domain listed in Sedo ’s domain auction can be a big win for domain owners, especially if their domains are generic. (See “When Should You Send a Sedo Offer to Auction?“)

There are two ways to get a domain listed in Sedo’s auction. One is to submit it to an account manager or to the monthly Great Domains auction. You have to have good domains with low reserves to get accepted. Another is to receive an offer on your domain and send it to an auction with the offer as the reserve price. But waiting around for an offer is never a good sales strategy.

Enter PushToAuction.com, which lets domain owners promote domains listed at Sedo that they agree to send to auction if someone makes a $60 offer on it. Users can look for domains that look reasonably priced at $60 or above and submit a bid at Sedo. The bidder makes a legitimate offer on the domain and the seller agrees to send the domain to auction after receiving the offer. This is no different than setting a $60 price expectation on Sedo, except that you get more promotion for the domain — it doesn’t get lost in the sea of 11.5 million domains at Sedo.

It appears to be working for some sellers. According to the site, these domains used the service and sold for over $400:

iooa.com $950
6jt.com $610
pafl.com $650
exo.mobi $400

You may see a pattern here: short, generic domain names.

Michael Sumner and Bogdan Nastea of DomainRaiders.com launched PushToAuction.com about 7 weeks ago.
